Oxley Institute of Sport

Oxley’s successful Basketball Academy has now been incorporated into the new Oxley Institute of Sport (from 2016). This exciting initiative offers students a choice of four sports, including basketball, tennis, soccer and netball. Each sport will have an external coach, focusing on the development of each athlete.

Inter-School Sport

Oxley is a member of the Eastern Independent Schools of Melbourne (EISM) sporting competition. Selected students compete in a set number of rounds of matches against other schools in the association. Sport generally takes place during school hours.

The following sports are played by students in Years 7 – 12.

  • Basketball
  • Cricket
  • Football
  • Hockey
  • Netball
  • Soccer
  • Softball
  • Table Tennis
  • Tennis
  • Volleyball

Teams are selected following trials. The opportunity to represent the College in EISM events is a privilege. High standards of sportsmanship, and a commitment to the team, are required. Those not selected participate in an alternative sports program. Year 12 students may elect to take study leave rather than participate in the alternative sport program.

Students also have the opportunity to represent the College in EISM competitions in athletics, swimming and cross country running. Selection of students is based on performance in the school carnivals.
