On Saturday 15h October members of our Senior Choir and Oxley’s a cappella group “Aurora” took part in a community concert for “The Dining Room Mission”, a Croydon community meal service for struggling families and homeless people. The purpose of the concert was to raise funds and, equally importantly, to raise public awareness about the issue of homelessness and poverty, and the needs in our own community. The evening included presentations from David Knoop, the Director of The Dining Room and several volunteers, about homelessness and poverty.
Our ensembles joined with the Opus 21 Big Band and the community choirs the “Sunbury Divas” and the “Sons of Sunbury” to provide a wonderful evening of music and entertainment that finished with the audience dancing in the aisles. The concert raised funds for a much needed cause.
This was an exciting opportunity for Oxley Christian College to make a visible and valuable contribution to a very real need within our community. We thank the members of our ensembles for their hard work and support, and congratulate them on their outstanding performances on the evening.
