EISM Senior Boys Cricket Premiership match a thriller

The EISM Senior Boys Cricket Premiership match was a thriller. All of the spectators soon realized that both teams were playing above themselves in a desperate effort to secure the cup. Of note was the excellent spirit of sportsmanship that both teams displayed.
Oxley batted first, making a reasonable score of 124 runs but to be honest they doubted that it would be enough. Best batting was by Daniel Rogers, making 57 runs retired, James Moore 20 runs and Jacques Van Niekerk run out for 10. The Kingswood batters came out fired up; but they found it difficult to score against the tight opening bowling of Nick Gray and Daniel Rogers, especially after two early wickets taken by Nick Gray. Michael Johnson, James Morgan, Zach Hooper and James Moore also took critical wickets.

One of the most important factors in turning the game however, was the great fielding especially in the outfield. Amazing catches to James Moore and Shawn Dean sealed the outcome in the end. Special mentions to Dennis Graf for great wicket keeping throughout the season and Brett Binning and Michael Johnson as opening batsman.

The Oxley Man of the Match went to Daniel Rogers, Vice Captain, for great bowling and excellent batting. The Oxley cricket team captain Michael Johnson showed tremendous leadership throughout the season and proudly accepted our trophy.

Thank you to our cricket assistants and Coach, Pastor Dave.

Final scores: Oxley College 8/124 defeated Kingswood 7/93
