This year’s Year 11 Drama Ensemble went off with a bang! Showcasing some of Oxley’s extraordinary acting talent, the audience was lead on a journey traversing Australia’s vibrant and unique history.
Students examined the topic of Immigration in detail as they told the personal stories of six strangers who meet at a campfire near Uluru. The performance was written entirely by the students and gave them the opportunity to use a range of different creative skills.
“The drama ensemble task is very difficult but all students rose to the challenge with pizazz and skill,” commented Drama Teacher, Miss Palmer. “They utilised the expressive skills they have been studying since the start of the year and incorporated a variety of theatrical styles showing the student’s passion for performance.”
Throughout the play the audience was confronted with a series of dramatic moments, startling sound effects, comedy, tragedy and imagery of the true suffering that has built the Australian Spirit. There were moments of laughter and moments of tears. The audience no doubt took away a new perspective on Australian identity.
